Paying homage to one of the great Arrernte leaders, the late Dr. MK Turner OAM, and her connections, The Honouring celebrated this mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It also honored her ancestral stories, language, knowledge, and arts practice handed down through generations of oral storytelling and safeguarded so she could share the nuances of culture across many forms and to all peoples.

A woman of high degree, Dr. MK Turner OAM was a Wisdom Keeper who educated us all on kinship and skin bloodlines, and connection to the landscape and Arrernte seasonal behaviours regarding stewardship of land, waterways, and sky country as her birthright and responsibility. This installation was a journey through an immersive tunnel, where we learned more about this extraordinary artist, teacher, custodian, and Queen of Alice. As the light changed, we were introduced to her voice through her art, poems, language, and stories for all ages.
