The lights are officially out at Alice Springs Desert Park, and we’d like to thank you for joining us on Country to share in Parrtjima 2023.
Over 10 magical nights we’ve enjoyed and explored Aboriginal culture through an incredible program of light installations, interactive workshops, music, film and talks, and what a journey it has been!
We saw thousands of visitors travel from across the country and even overseas to experience the extraordinary Listening with Heart installation, the mesmerising lights of Grounded and the incredible MacDonnell Ranges Light Show.
Festival Highlights
Parrtjima opened on the 7th of April with a traditional Welcome to Country, followed by the festival’s official opening from the reference group.
Over 10 nights, guests enjoyed talks, music, and workshops, including Steven Oliver and Charlie Maher’s inspiring performances. Attendees also learned from skilled artists and witnessed the cultural significance of sand drawing at the Maruku Arts Tjukurpa Storytelling Sand Demonstration.
DJ Karnage and Rowdy Birds got people dancing before live music from The Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, Emily Wurramara and so many more.
Postcards from Parrtjima was a crowd favourite, with thousands of people sending personalised messages from beneath the desert sky to friends and family back home.
