Parrtjima 2026: Registrations Now Open

Two people kneel and draw glowing patterns in sand during a nighttime outdoor event, surrounded by soft ambient light.

Get ready to experience the heart of Australia like never before. Parrtjima returns to Mparntwe (Alice Springs) from 10–19 April 2026, illuminating the world’s oldest living culture through light, art, music, and storytelling.

For 10 unforgettable nights, the breathtaking MacDonnell Ranges will once again come alive with a free program celebrating First Nations creativity and culture.

Now in its 11th year, Parrtjima 2026 explores the theme Language — celebrating the power, rhythm, and beauty of words, song, and story. Spectacular new light installations and immersive experiences will pay tribute to language as a living bridge between people and place, from ancient songlines to modern expressions of identity.

Visitors can deepen their connection to Country through interactive language workshops, discovering how the spirit of language continues to shape culture, community, and understanding.

As the only authentic Aboriginal light festival of its kind, Parrtjima offers a truly unique cultural experience that attracts thousands from across Australia and around the world. Proudly grounded on the Country of the Mparntwe, Antulye, and Irlpme estates, every element of Parrtjima is guided by Traditional Owners to ensure it remains culturally authentic and respectful.

The Opening Weekend kicks off with a traditional Welcome Ceremony and an electrifying performance by Electric Fields on Friday, 10 April. Crowd favourites including the MacDonnell Ranges Light Show and Grounded installation will return, alongside stunning new works inspired by this year’s theme. Visitors can also explore the Blak Markets, enjoy bush food workshops, and experience live music under the desert sky each night.
