Grounded was an immersive, large-scale projection that transformed the red earth underfoot into a dynamic, living canvas. A festival favourite, the much-loved animated installation returned in 2026, showcasing a curated selection of emerging artists from across Northern and Central Australia.

Delivered through an open EOI process, the program provided art centres with a platform to put forward new talent, creating meaningful opportunities for their work to be experienced by new audiences. Six artists were selected, with each artwork projected onto the desert floor and carefully animated to bring their stories to life. As light and movement played across the sand, visitors were invited to connect, interact and experience how ancient stories and Indigenous knowledge evolved through contemporary technology.
