Friday 17 April, 7.30pm
Clay Stories with Hermannsburg Potters is a hands-on workshop shaped in response to Parrtjima’s 2026 theme of Language, inviting participants to work with clay alongside Western Aranda artists from Ntaria. Known for their vibrant ceramics and playful sculptural forms, the artists share stories of Country, language and everyday life through making.
Participants are guided to create small animal and bird sculptures, learning the Western Aranda names and stories connected to each creature along the way. The session also includes a short animation exploring Western Aranda seasons, plants and animals, offering a poetic window into language and Country. Unhurried and immersive, the workshop creates space to listen, make and connect, with participants leaving with a sculptural piece of their own and a deeper understanding of Western Aranda culture and language. Clay works may be recycled or firing and postage options can be discussed on the day.
