Walking with story, Country and Law

The Language Of Wati Ngintaka

Reggie Uluru is one of the most senior living custodians and artists from Mutitjulu, whose cultural knowledge and storytelling continue to guide generations across Anangu Country.

The Language of Wati Ngintaka (Perentie Lizard Man) is a powerful and immersive installation that honours the unbroken lineage of ancestral narratives, land-based knowledge and moral teachings carried through oral tradition. The story of Wati Ngintaka is a guide for living in balance with Country, caring for one another and recognising the signs held within the natural world, deeply embedded in Anangu Law.

Within the installation, visitors move among multiple Perentie forms, each with unique markings and presence. A gentle internal glow and layered soundscape draw audiences into the story, bringing together sculpture, light and sound in an experience grounded in Law.

More than an artwork, the installation is a living archive, inviting visitors to walk slowly, listen deeply and engage with the knowledge held in Country.
