Revisit Parrtjima 2021, with illuminated camels, interactive honey ants, Electric Fields and a special artwork travelling aboard The Ghan.

Future Kultcha guided Parrtjima 2021, exploring how knowledge passes between generations. Held from 9 to 18 April, the sixth festival returned to autumn with interactive installations at Alice Springs Desert Park and Todd Mall, while a special collaboration carried its art through the Territory aboard The Ghan.

Chantelle Mulladad's Crossroads appeared on three train carriages and in Merging Kultcha, a procession of five illuminated camel sculptures. The installation recognised connections between Arrernte people and Afghan cameleers. Inside The Ghan, passengers could experience a specially created audiovisual presentation that brought a taste of Parrtjima into the journey.

At the festival, Harvesting Kultcha invited visitors to interact with a giant honey-ant nest. Revolving Kultcha brought shields and coolamons together with skateboards, while Tailoring Kultcha used light and textiles in Todd Mall. Grounded Kultcha projected animated artworks onto the sands, offering another way for families to explore the installations together.

Electric Fields created the soundscape for the Spirit Kultcha ranges show and joined a live music programme that included Casey Donovan, Miiesha and Shellie Morris. Talks and films expanded the experience, connecting the visual works with contemporary Indigenous voices and ideas.
